Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument that this trend is positive because people can 'earn big chunk of money' is a bit of a leap and lacks sufficient logical grounding. While the response covers all requirements, the supporting points could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. The inclusion of statistics adds a sense of evidence, though the analysis of these points remains somewhat basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Moving towards', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'whereas' at the start of a sentence or 'according my opinion'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the causes to the evaluation of the trend.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'multifarious', 'predominant', and 'explicate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'click their pictures of themselves' (instead of 'take photos'), 'dwellers like clicking pictures', and 'big chunk of money'. While the meaning is always clear, the lack of precision and occasional misuse of vocabulary limit the score. A wider range of natural collocations would improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('visiting new places have become') and article usage ('a essential part', 'the both reasons'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The writer demonstrates an attempt at complex structures, but control over these is inconsistent, leading to errors in tense and preposition usage.
