Student answer (Band 6.5)

Majority of the individuals are visiting the famous places today, for not to explore them, but to click the photographs of themselves. In my view, this is happening because of the increasing trend of social media, and want to create a part-time or full-time income source. According to me, it is a positive trend as it can boost the tourism of the well known places.

Increasing trend of the social media is the foremost reason of why people are more incline towards to take the photographs of themselves. Becuase, so many people have desire to become a famous person, and the social media plateforms provide them a chance by posting their photographs on their plateforms. So, if someone will search the famous place on the internet, it can show those influencers who went on that place and then individuals follow that person on that social media platform. This is how it can help them to become a famous person.

Another reason is, majority of the society are seen it as an part-time or full-time income opportunity. The famous places provide the ambience to their photos. So that, they can show their photos to the media agencies, who are actively seeking for the models or influencers to promote their places or products. This is how they can generate their part-time or full-time income, just by visiting those places and taking the photographs. For example, in Austraila, 50 percent of the people are choosing this activity as their part-time income source, and they are earning more than their full-time job.

According to me this trend of taking photographs is a positive trend. As it can help to increase the tourism of those famous places. If the tourism will increase then it can provide the opportunities to the people ,who belong to those places, to earn more. It can boose the economy of that place. So, Job market will be increased of those places. For instance, a research conducted in India, suggest that the tourism is increasing nowadays as more influencers are visiting to those famous places. It can attract the tourist more than any conservational method.

To conclude, the trend of clicking the photos of themselves at the famous places is good, as it can help many tourists to know about hidden gems of places of the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of social media and income generation. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, and the argument that it is a 'positive' trend is arguably under-developed, as it ignores the negative implications of tourists not actually looking at the places they visit. While the position is clear, the supporting examples, such as the statistic about Australia, lack sufficient depth or plausibility to fully convince the reader. To reach a higher band, ensure that the counter-arguments are acknowledged and that the reasoning is more nuanced.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the reasons and the final evaluation. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'This is how' and 'According to me'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect ideas more naturally. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the distinct points of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'ambience', 'influencers', and 'economy'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'more incline towards to take' instead of 'more inclined to take' and 'conservational method' instead of 'conventional methods'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Improving collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('majority of the society are seen it'), incorrect preposition usage ('on that place' instead of 'at that place'), and awkward phrasing ('for not to explore them'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors with comma placement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is recommended.
