More and more people nowadays visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place.

Why do you think this is happening?

Is it a positive or a negative trend?

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Nowadays it becomes well noticeable that people who visit beautiful and popular places are likely want to take photos rather than look and enjoy surrounding views. This trend became huge and significant because of existence of social media and high quality cameras on our smartphones.

In the one hand, holding a mobile phone which is able to capture a rare wild or beautiful landscapes allow us to keep memories in galleries. Sometimes people need to remind themself about their life journeys and stories which making a photo by smartphone makes it away easier because it always stays with us. For example, making smartphone photos on outdoors is faster and easier than taking picture by a professional camera. Modern smartphones are pretty light and can easily handle and compete with the big majorities of professional cameras.

In the other hand, posting photos or videos on the social media during a trip may potentially harm your adventure experience. For instance, some tourists who like to spend their time by taking photo on nature can theoretically miss some beautiful or undiscovered places which can be found by a simple human curiosity. Social media and unstoppable need to take photos could possibly ruin your curiosity and desire to explore a new locations. People need to pay more attention on a real feelings and sensational experience during their trip rather than wasting time on photo taking.

In conclusion, taking photos on smartphones can help us easy to make some notes about our present and past, but overtaking photos may damage our journey experience.
