Student answer (Band 6.5)

Recently, numerous individuals visit tourist locations to take pictures of themselves without even spending time to explore those locations. These are because of several factors which would be discussed in this essay and I would agree that although this may provide some positive aspect majority tend to point towards negative trend .

To begin, many people just visit tourist location not to explore those landmark but just to show their followers that they have being there , for example many social media influencers who gain majority of their income from posting pictures and by doing so they need to have lots of likes. So many just post pictures from those visitation to gain traction online not because they don't enjoy sightseeing. Moreover, there is pressure to show that you have being in a famous spot to earn bragging rights in front of peers and family families.

I would say this is a negative trend because numerous people spent a lot money and time to plan ahead to go to those destinations without even taking time to be in the moment , in the past when social media hasn't really being made popular, people who visit a location do so because they genuinely wanted to be there and spend a lot of time to salvor the experience. They usually leave with memories instead of just pictures and when they go back home they spend weeks or month reminiscing about the location from memory because they were very present.

Regardless , if people go to these locations they should do so because they really want to immense themselves in experience not just to snap a picture and post online for online gratification .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the writer's opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the reasons (social media influence and social status) are relevant, they could be expanded with more depth or specific examples. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully summarize the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the 'why' and 'how' behind the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin', 'Moreover', and 'Regardless', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly interrupted by grammatical errors. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at using more specific vocabulary, such as 'reminiscing', 'gratification', and 'immense' (though 'immerse' was intended). However, there are some word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'salvor the experience' (likely meant 'savor') and 'visitation' used in a slightly unnatural way. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but more precise and varied vocabulary would enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses ('hasn't really being made', 'have being there') and pluralization ('family families'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some spacing issues before commas. These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, as well as refining the use of complex structures to ensure they are error-free.
