Student answer (Band 6.5)

This is very debatable topic nowadays that people are visiting the famous places just to click photographs without knowing the history and importance of the place. According to me, this is a negative trend which should not be followed.

Firstly, Individuals go the famous places just to click photographs and to upload on social media just to be cool and show to other people that they have been there. This is utmost wrong because every place which is well known among the people is there for a reason. Whenever somebody visit these places they should know about their historic significance and know more about the culture and heritage of that place.

Secondly, some of that places are religiously important for the community, sometime people don’t realize that any of their inappropriate action could hurt the sentiments of the people. For instance, in India, Golden temple is a very famous place to visit for the tourists from inside and outside the country, individuals come treat that place as a tourist destination for fun and sometimes unintentionally do the wrong things, which can lead to them in problematic state. Moreover, people visit the place just to take photographs and upload on social media to show others.

At last, i want to say that people should go out and explore new and famous places but this is also that important that you should know about the history and significance of that place. This will help you in gaining more knowledge and can change your viewpoint to see that place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the example of the Golden Temple is relevant, the explanation of why people prioritize photos over experience remains a bit superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the psychological or societal drivers behind this behavior, such as the 'fear of missing out' or the validation-seeking nature of social media, rather than just stating that people want to look 'cool'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover' to signal the progression of your argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as 'some of that places'. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns to create a smoother, more sophisticated reading experience.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'historic significance', 'heritage', and 'sentiments'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'utmost wrong' (should be 'entirely wrong') and 'problematic state'. The range is somewhat limited, relying on repetitive structures. Incorporating more precise collocations and a broader range of academic vocabulary would help elevate your score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is consistently clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the famous places'), pluralization ('some of that places'), and preposition usage. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and capitalization issues, such as the lowercase 'i' in the final paragraph. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
