Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits your ability to develop your ideas. While you identify both positive and negative aspects, the discussion is superficial and incomplete. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, meaning the conclusion and the final supporting arguments are missing. To improve, you must ensure you fully address all parts of the prompt by providing detailed explanations and relevant examples for each point. Aim to expand your paragraphs by elaborating on the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments, ensuring you complete the essay with a clear summary of your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization, using transition signals like 'On the positive side' and 'On the negative side' to structure the response. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending disrupts the overall flow. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices (such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast') to link your sentences and ideas more fluidly. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a logical conclusion before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on common phrases like 'well-known places' and 'new locations' repeatedly. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'streakson' (a typo) and 'addicted to their photos', which sounds slightly unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'social media influence', 'aesthetic appeal', or 'superficial engagement'. Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations will help you express your ideas with more sophistication and clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'In todays modern world' (missing apostrophe), 'leads to positive and negative impact' (missing articles), and 'visit to the locations' (unnecessary preposition). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
