Student answer (Band 7.0)
In recent years, many tourists are visiting the places to click photographs rather than gaining knowledge about the history, culture, and focusing on beauty of the place. This is all because of social media presence and it is a negative development.
The main reason is the influence of social media, many people want to put their pictures on the social media like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat. Just to get likes, comments, and followers. Visiting famous places is the way to get online presence. For instance, many people at the Eiffel Tower just click photographs rathar than admiring the architecture.
Another reason is the desire to show the social status. Traveling to famous places and posting pictures on social media shows the wealth and success of an individual. Moreover, many people want to prove their followers and friends that they can afford expensive trips. Today's trend is that people show-off themselves through social media just to get validation. For instance, many people post pictures on social media showing their visit to an expensive place to their friends rather than enjoying the experience.
One more reason for this negative development is the fear of missing out (FOMO). Many individuals copy trends that they see online and copying each other. They feel pressured to visit popular places even when they cannot afford it. Furthermore, they are more focused on clicking similar photographs rathar than creating their own memories.
In conclusion, the people are visiting famous places is mainly for taking photographs to post it on the social media and for getting online recognition. Although sharing travel experiences can inspire others, this trend is mostly negative because it prevents people from fully appreciating the cultural, historical, and natural value of the places they visit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. The ideas are relevant, particularly the focus on social media validation and FOMO. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the second and third paragraphs both focus heavily on social media validation. To reach a higher band, you could expand on the 'why' by discussing the psychological aspect of digital memory versus physical experience in more depth. Overall, the task is fully addressed with a consistent viewpoint.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as social status or FOMO. Cohesive devices like 'For instance', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used effectively to link ideas. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. To improve, ensure that the relationship between sentences is more varied, rather than relying on standard list-like connectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task and conveys the intended meaning clearly. You have used some topic-specific terms like 'online presence', 'social status', and 'validation'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is repetition of phrases like 'social media' and 'clicking photographs'. There are also minor spelling errors, such as 'rathar' (rather). To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms or collocations related to tourism and digital behavior, such as 'curated persona' or 'superficial engagement'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips. For example, 'the people are visiting famous places is mainly for...' is syntactically awkward, and 'show-off themselves' is incorrect usage. There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many tourists are visiting the places' should be 'many tourists visit places'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
