Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about people visiting well-known places to take photographs without looking at the location, but the essay discusses government spending on the environment versus healthcare. Because the response fails to address the task requirements entirely, it cannot be scored higher than a Band 3.0 for Task Achievement. Additionally, the response is under the minimum word count, which further impacts the ability to develop ideas relevant to the actual prompt. To improve, you must carefully read the instructions and ensure your arguments directly answer the specific questions posed in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic paragraphing and some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'To conclude'. However, because the content is irrelevant to the prompt, the logical progression is disconnected from the task. The structure is mechanical, and the flow of ideas is hindered by the fact that the essay is arguing a completely different topic than the one assigned. While there is an attempt to organize the text into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, the lack of relevance to the prompt makes the overall coherence ineffective.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for a basic level but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several word-choice errors, such as 'improvised quality of life' (likely meaning 'improved') and 'life mortality' (which is redundant). The range is limited, and the repetition of phrases like 'government should' and 'investing in' suggests a restricted vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. You should also work on using more sophisticated vocabulary related to the actual topic of the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'other believe' (should be 'others believe'), 'spending money in protection' (should be 'on the protection'), 'can helps in conservating' (should be 'can help in conserving'), and 'can leads to' (should be 'can lead to'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, such as the misuse of the semicolon in the conclusion. A significant number of sentences contain errors that, while not always impeding communication, show a lack of control over basic grammatical structures.
