Student answer (Band 6.5)

Tourism has encouraged people in such a way that, they visit well-known places to take their pictures and capture memories. As a result, sometimes people do not look at the place and visit there randomly. I believe tourists should learn about the destination before planning to visit there.

To begin with, social media has influenced people to visit random places and click pictures to share it on social media sites. This is because, almost every person has his account on the social media and while scrolling he comes across other people's pictures. This results in encouraging an individual to visit that place and click photographs. However, sometimes visitors go to the destinations to click their memories and therefore, they fail to lean history about the place. Moreover, visiting any random place for the photography only can result in wasting resources.

On the other hand, learning history about the place and then clicking the pictures is worth going there. For instance, when an individual visits a tourist place and experience the beauty of ancient monuments, it enhances his historical knowledge. Moreover, when a tourist concentrates heavily on understanding the facts about the place, it encourages other people to visit and have a better experience. As a result, when someone posts a story along with its history written, it attracts more number of people and improves growth of tourists places.

In conclusion, despite that fact that clicking pictures on well-known places saves the memories for the future, gaining knowledge about its past enhances the visiting experience. Therefore, those who like to visit new places, should gain the knowledge first then, shortlist the places to visit and finally exploring the places. This will not just help a person to click pictures, but improve overall visiting experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend (social media influence) and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention that social media encourages this behavior, the explanation of why people prioritize photos over the experience itself could be more deeply explored. The argument that it is a negative trend is clear, but the supporting points—such as 'wasting resources'—are brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that each reason is fully extended with more specific examples or logical consequences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons from the evaluation. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with,' 'On the other hand,' and 'As a result,' which help the flow. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'despite that fact that clicking pictures on well-known places saves the memories.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your ideas clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'ancient monuments' and 'tourist places.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice or collocation, such as 'visit there randomly' or 'lean history.' To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and precise collocations related to tourism and social behavior. The current range is sufficient to communicate your message but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'almost every person has his account on the social media' (article usage) and 'attracts more number of people' (quantifier usage). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as unnecessary commas after 'way that' and 'first then.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
