Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent times, a large number of people visit to various attractions across the globe, just for the sake of taking pictures instead of not giving the chance for the place to do its magic. I totally standby the above statement. The below following paragraph will focus on both the pros and cons of such behaviours by the tourists.

Firstly, the positive aspect to this trend is that travellers going to various places or global attractions look out for their own memories rather than that of just enjoying the vibe of the place. This leads to loss of building connect with people that you meet at those places, which give you a platform to explore it on a reality basis. For example, my aunt likes to take a lot of pictures just for her memories wherever she travels rather than appreciating the beauty of the place.

Secondly. the negative aspect to the ongoing wave is that you tend to loose the essence and sense of exposure, if the individual only focuses on taking pictures. Memories can be made anywhere, but the opportunity to visit exotic locations or the wonders of the world be it scenic or modern city vibe will go in vain. For instance, I like to be in the moment rather than spending my time on clicking pictures, I'd rather capture it with my eyes not an electronic device like a camera.

Therefore, I agree with the notion that people travelling to various well-known attractions globally and just taking pictures rather than building memories and relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The essay struggles to clearly distinguish between the 'pros' and 'cons' as requested; the first body paragraph attempts to discuss a positive aspect but actually describes a negative consequence (the loss of connection). Furthermore, the conclusion does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each paragraph clearly aligns with the specific question asked and provides more detailed, logical support for the points raised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the logical progression of ideas is inconsistent. The use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or misused, such as the transition 'Firstly, the positive aspect...' followed by a point that describes a negative outcome. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is somewhat disjointed. To achieve a higher band, focus on using linking words that accurately reflect the relationship between ideas and ensure that each paragraph maintains a consistent thematic focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'standby the above statement' (instead of 'stand by'), 'on a reality basis', and 'go in vain'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or idiomatic language limits the score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations and academic expressions would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the below following paragraph will focus'), incorrect prepositions ('visit to various attractions'), and punctuation errors (e.g., the period after 'Secondly'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the text. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining complex sentence structures will help improve your score in this area.
