Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, tourists prefer to take pictures at famous places just for themselves without having a chance to discover the place, which had become a matter of debate. This essay will discuss the reasons of their behaviors before presenting my own opinion regarding the situation.
First and foremost, people document their experiences by taking photographs for commercial purposes. In other words, they attempt to post videos and pictures to increase their followers on social media. Hence, it increases the chances that companies will contact them for advertisement regarding products or places. According to a study, instagrammers have made an increase in their profits by thirty per cent due to their daily posts of their images on instagram.
In addition, the definition of tourism has changed over time. To explain more, tourists appreciate the idea of their presence at the historical landmarks rather than enjoy the behind story of this place. According to a recent questionnaire, people behaviors regarding tourism have changed dramatically since the social media has started. I believe that this trend has negative impact on the community and the future generations as it affects negatively the importance and appreciation of the touristic places that our ancestors build it then it become just a normal site to visit.
In conclusion, the concept of visiting cultural landmarks has unfavorably changed. People just document the moment for business and show off reasons. I believe this negative attitude should be reflected on the next generation which governments or communities should find solutions for their attitudes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the writer's opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of social media and the shift in the definition of tourism. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'commercial purposes' is clear, but the second body paragraph could have been expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to fully explore the implications of this trend. The position is clear throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the writer's stance, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5-7.0 level of task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'In other words', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'their behaviors' in the introduction, which lacks a clear antecedent. Despite these minor flaws, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow, justifying a Band 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'cultural landmarks', 'commercial purposes', and 'touristic places'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'behind story of this place' (should be 'backstory' or 'history') and 'reflected on the next generation' (which is slightly imprecise). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band score. The errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more natural phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'that our ancestors build it then it become' (should be 'built and then became') and 'since the social media has started' (should be 'since social media started'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are instances where sentence structure is slightly clunky. While the writer attempts complex sentences, the control is inconsistent. The errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, which is consistent with the Band 6 descriptor.
