Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about people visiting well-known places to take photographs without looking at the location, but the essay discusses whether employers should ask for personal information during job applications. Because the response fails to address the task prompt entirely, it cannot be assessed for task achievement in relation to the specific question asked. While the essay structure attempts to follow a standard argumentative format, the content is irrelevant to the instructions provided. To improve, ensure you carefully read the prompt and identify the specific topic before beginning your response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs with clear topic sentences, such as 'One the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, the logical progression is undermined by the fact that the content does not relate to the prompt. Cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Thus', and 'In conclusion' are used, but the final paragraph is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. While the structure is present, the lack of relevance to the task makes the overall coherence difficult to follow in the context of the exam requirements.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but contains several spelling errors, such as 'beleive', 'infromation', 'inenhancing', 'flexibilty', 'oppotunities', 'oragniztaion', and 'realtionship'. The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on simple phrasing. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To reach a higher band, you should focus on accurate spelling and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary, while ensuring that your word choices are precise and appropriate for the context of the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'this details are irrelevant' (subject-verb agreement), 'one do' (subject-verb agreement), 'provide an infromation' (article and noun usage), and 'My uncle working in one comapny' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable despite these errors, the frequency of mistakes in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
