Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons and providing an opinion on the trend. However, the development is limited due to the word count being below the 250-word requirement. The ideas, such as 'showing off' or 'preserving memories', are mentioned but lack sufficient depth or illustrative examples to fully satisfy the task requirements. The position is clear, but the brevity of the arguments prevents a higher score. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific, real-world examples to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more thorough exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression is hindered by the lack of depth in the arguments. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph develops a single, clear idea before moving to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'maximum people' (instead of 'most people') and 'get explore' are inaccurate. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'phenonmon', 'othre', 'explicated', and 'conculde', which distract the reader. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language. To improve, focus on learning correct collocations and proofreading your work to eliminate simple spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'there is few benefits' (should be 'there are a few benefits') and 'we can not be overlooked' (should be 'we cannot overlook'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. The frequency of errors is noticeable and occasionally causes the reader to pause, though the overall message remains understandable. To improve, practice using a wider variety of complex structures and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and verb forms.
