Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent times, lots of people like to visit popular destination to capture beautiful moments of themselves, without watching the place. I think their are couple of reasons for this type of trend. Several reasons and whether it is positive or negative trend will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.
Examining the causes, the prime one is social influence. Nowadays, people especially teenagers are too much connected and influenced through various social media platforms. Due to which they try to explore more places and keep capturing themselves while ignoring the beauty of that places. Also, this is because of content creator. Now people use this online platform as a profession and start earning by posting daily vlog videos and by reviewing different places.
Some people think that it is a positive trend because, people can get to know new places and can attract more and more tourist. Also, it is fascinating nowadays that lots of tourism and travel agency are paying lots of money to people to visit this type of places and post videos and picture of themselves. So, people get to know and visit this places more often.
However, on the other hand few people consider this as a negative trend. They think that while capturing the moment people forget about the beauty of that place, they do not even enjoy the view or the famous things of that place just because they want to take photos. For Instance, famous destination place in Canada the Niagra falls. So many tourist and local travel to spend there weekend just to capture their photos to post online without enjoying the moment.
In conclusion, people like to visit different places to click photographs of themselves without knowing the place just because of social influence and content creation. I think this as a negative trend because while capturing the photos you are missing the real beauty of that place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as social media influence and the rise of content creation. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the positive aspects of the trend is a bit superficial, focusing primarily on tourism revenue without deeper analysis. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting examples, such as the mention of Niagara Falls, could be more effectively integrated to strengthen the argument. Overall, the response meets the requirements but lacks the depth of analysis expected for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the causes to the evaluation of the trend. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Examining the causes', 'However', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors. Overall, the structure is coherent and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'social influence', 'content creator', and 'vlog videos'. However, there are several instances of word choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'visit popular destination' (should be 'destinations') and 'this type of places' (should be 'these types of places'). The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in collocation prevent it from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('their are couple of reasons'), article misuse ('the Niagra falls'), and pluralization errors ('this places'). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of full control over complex structures. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would improve the score.
