Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the modern era, the trend of clicking pictures of yourself rather than the most famous destinations you visit is increasingly popular. The reasons for this approach involve various factors which are explained in the upcoming paragraphs. According to me, this has shown a negative trend to the world.
The first and foremost reason for this trend is the increment of self obsession among individuals. It is the result of social media which has influenced most of the individuals and they like to click themselves more than any other thing or object. For instance, they get more views on their own pictures on the popular platforms like instagram, facebook, youtube, ticktok and many more.
The second reason is that the memories with the loved ones from different tours. People usually take photos with their families or friends to remember their visit in future. For example, some individuals like to collect the happiness of closed ones in their mobiles. So that they can recall their best days. Also, they like to give importance to the person next to them not the place they visit.
In my viewpoint, it is seen as a negative following of the people because the popular places have their own beauty and nature. Some people never understand the reason for the popularity of these famous destinations they visit.
To conclude, famous places are being ignored by people because of their self obsession and the reason for creating memories with individuals whom they are close to rather than places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'self-obsession' and 'memories' as reasons, the explanation remains superficial. For instance, the second paragraph mentions collecting happiness but does not fully explain why this leads to ignoring the destination itself. The position is clear, but the arguments could be extended with more depth or specific examples to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not add new insight to the discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'The first and foremost reason' and 'The second reason' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition in the third paragraph ('Also, they like to give importance to the person next to them not the place they visit') feels slightly abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'modern era', 'destinations', and 'self-obsession'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'clicking pictures' is informal; 'taking photographs' is more appropriate for an IELTS essay. 'Negative following' is not a standard collocation. Additionally, the repetition of 'individuals' and 'people' limits the sophistication of your writing. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and academic collocations to demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'According to me' (should be 'In my opinion'), 'the increment of self obsession' (should be 'the increase in self-obsession'), and 'the memories with the loved ones from different tours' (which is a sentence fragment). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence contains a clear main verb and complete thought.
