Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent year people mostly travel to historical destinations or beautiful places only to take photographs rather than enjoying the scenery of the beautiful places. This trend has very negative impact on society and the reason for this is influence of social media.

First reason for this trend is influence of social media. People often visit to nature landscapes and historic place just to click attractive photographs with the better background. Also want to create fake hype on social media applications like Instagram and Facebook by posting picture with good scenery in background. Societal pressure for uploading pictures of different destinations is also the main reason.

Secondly, people often want to create to memories with their friends and family members by capturing them in the photographs. Even they after coming from their vacations they often show to their colleagues and friends where they have visited what they have seen. Moreover, individuals often recall their memories by looking at the images of their recent trips.

In my opinion this trend has offers no benefit. Whenever we we visit any place we have a lot of this to learn about the about different culture and the lifestyle of the people of different area. Which most people often miss due to over capturing of photographs. It also disturbs other people at tourist places as well as it is insult of historic places and nature's beautiful landscapes.

In conclusion, It is good thing to take take photographs to keep as memory. But, it is a negative trend for meaningful travelling and understanding different cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention social media influence and the desire to create memories, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the discussion on the 'negative impact' is brief and could benefit from more nuanced exploration of how this behavior affects the quality of the travel experience. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of the response is closer to the Band 6 level due to the somewhat repetitive nature of the arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First reason', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing could be more effectively utilized to separate distinct points more sharply.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'scenery', 'destinations', and 'meaningful travelling'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'create fake hype' and 'it is insult of historic places'. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise collocations and a wider variety of sophisticated vocabulary to avoid repetition of words like 'beautiful' and 'places'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'In recent year' (should be 'years'), 'visit to nature landscapes' (should be 'visit natural landscapes'), and 'it has offers no benefit'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing articles and unnecessary repetition of words like 'we we' and 'take take'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
