Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people these days are visiting places that are famous for clicking pictures without researching the place or thinking about it twice.
Firstly, Technology has made so much advancement that it has affected people's lives in such a way that it has reduced the thinking capability of today's generation. For example, one of my best friends showed me a place that is going viral on social media and asked me if we could visit. We visited that place, but we got stuck as they were no transportation to return. We visited just because it was going viral on social media.
Secondly, peer pressure is the common cause that people blindly follow everyone instead of doing their own research. For Instance, a colleague from my office showed me pictures of the places that her cousins visited and share the she should also visit, otherwise, she fears that, everyone will tease her and give her the title as boring.
Further, to conclude, I would say that this is a negative trend as; it is causing many problems like mental health issues, depression and also it is leading fights amongst family. Furthermore, it is also, destroying the thinking capability of the current generation. I believe people should visit places but should research and choose a place that is beautiful, safe and that give them the positive vibe. Additionally, you should choose a nice spot that they think is good enough and not choose a place to show someone or to follow a trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The reasons provided—social media influence and peer pressure—are relevant but could be explored with more depth. The conclusion introduces new ideas, such as mental health and family conflict, which were not mentioned in the body paragraphs, making the argument feel slightly disjointed. To improve, ensure that each main idea is fully explained and supported with clear, logical reasoning rather than listing several points in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Further, to conclude, I would say...' and the repetitive use of 'Furthermore'. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth transitions, making the flow feel a bit choppy. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would help elevate the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at more specific language, such as 'viral on social media' and 'peer pressure'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'clicking pictures' (better: 'taking photographs') and 'give her the title as boring' (better: 'label her as boring'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'as they were no transportation' (should be 'there was no transportation'), 'share the she should also visit' (grammatically incorrect), and inconsistent use of commas. These errors do not significantly impede communication, but they are noticeable throughout the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
