Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is a debate over the issue that individuals prefer to capture their pictures when they visit well-known places, instead of learning and exploring the new places. I firmly agree with this notion and this makes negative impact on the community.

One of the main reason is the excess use of social media. In this Contemporary world, everyone has their social media accounts such as on Facebook, Instagram and many more. People prefer to click their pictures ,while visiting outside to show as a status symbol to their friends and followers . For Instance, Individuals capture the pictures before eating food in Restaurants and post them on their social media accounts so that their followers may think that they have enough money and they are living their life with full of enjoyment.

Secondly, it lacks individuals to explore the place. Although, People spend most of their precious time in clicking the pictures rather than exploring the places. It can lead to lack of knowledge about the place. For example, people can only show the pictures to their friends ,but they cannot provide whole depth history of that place and the best part of the place that makes them famous.

On the other hand, it is really important to capture the photographs of themselves at such places. It makes memories which will last longer with individuals. People can see these photos in their future and will remember those precious moments that they spend together with their loved ones.

To conclude, it is good habit to click the photographs while visiting famous places, however, people should not ignore the value of such places , and will explore the place by visiting distinct areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention social media and the lack of exploration, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more specific analysis. Your position is clear, but the conclusion contradicts the body paragraphs by calling it a 'good habit' after arguing it has a 'negative impact' throughout the essay. To improve, ensure your position remains consistent and provide more depth in your supporting examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'One of the main reason', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' to link your points. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor errors in referencing and cohesion, such as 'it lacks individuals to explore', which is an awkward phrasing. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the logical flow between the final body paragraph and the conclusion could be smoother to ensure the argument remains cohesive.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'status symbol', 'contemporary world', and 'precious moments'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'capture their pictures' (usually 'take photos') and 'living their life with full of enjoyment' (grammatically awkward). You attempt to use some less common vocabulary, but the control is not always precise. To reach a higher band, focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing like 'the place' used multiple times in the second paragraph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('One of the main reason is') and incorrect preposition usage ('living their life with full of enjoyment'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma placement and spacing. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
