Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is limited and lacks depth. While you identify reasons for the trend (social media influence and financial incentives), the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The position is clear, but the supporting examples, such as 'before and after' photos, are vague and do not fully explain the implications of the trend. Furthermore, the response falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum, which impacts the overall task completion. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a fully extended argument with specific, relevant examples that directly address the prompt's focus on the act of photographing without engaging with the location itself.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While you use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Lastly', their usage is sometimes mechanical or forced. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, particularly in the third paragraph where the link between social media and the act of taking photos is not clearly articulated. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'this thing is becoming more popular', which lacks a precise antecedent. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that flows logically into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'take pictures', 'best memories', and 'beautiful place'. There are also instances of awkward word choice, such as 'without know the proper location' (should be 'without knowing') and 'plus trend' (which is not standard English). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism, digital culture, and photography. Avoid informal phrasing and focus on using words that convey your meaning with greater accuracy and nuance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Photographs is necessary', 'photographs shows'), incorrect verb forms ('without know', 'if anybody post'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally understandable, these recurring errors demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency. Practice writing more complex sentences, but ensure they are grammatically accurate before attempting to use them in your essays.
