Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and an evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the impact of social media is mentioned, the explanation of why people prioritize photos over the experience could be more deeply explored. The example regarding 'Burma' is a bit vague and lacks sufficient context to fully support the argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is expanded with more detailed reasoning or illustrative examples that directly connect to the core of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', though some of these feel a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, although the flow between sentences in the second paragraph is occasionally choppy. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body points, and conclusion. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between sentences feels more natural and less formulaic.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'alarming mentality' and 'mesmerizing beauty'. However, there are also some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'well versed spots' (likely meaning 'popular' or 'well-known') and 'masses to rush into' (which is slightly awkward). The repetition of words like 'place' and 'experience' suggests a need for a broader range of synonyms to enhance the sophistication of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'At the outset of new era' (missing article), 'results in masses to rush' (incorrect verb pattern), and 'can themselves or others in danger' (missing verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some spacing issues before commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
