Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this era of travel, most people prefer to visit places that are already famous rather than discover new ones. From my perspective, this trend has both positive and negative effects.
Nowadays, Gen Z love to explore places which they saw on social media because its social media era and pictures on social media attract more people; easy to access new place at that time, people are urged to explore that place. Furthermore, this trend has become positive as the generation becomes independent to visit, and it keeps people from anxiety at least for some time. For example, Last week I went to White Rock Pier after seeing my best friend's pictures on Instagram; the place was quite peaceful, and I felt internal peace.
On the other hand, exploring places after watching in photos would be quite expensive through. For instance, if people visit a place more often, then at that place businesses will grow, more shops, more public, which directly affects the cost of living and traffic. In addition, shops will charge prices as per their own, and at that time, monopoly increases. Whereas, if the general public tries to find new places to visit will be pocket friendly and offer adventurous movement.
In my opinion, finding a new place for exploring is good enough instead of visiting the place we see in photos. The main reason for visiting the same place by most people is only social media, which provides material as per interest. This trend has both positive and negative effects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The explanation for why people visit famous places relies heavily on social media influence, which is relevant but lacks depth. The discussion on whether it is positive or negative is present, but the arguments—such as 'internal peace' versus 'monopoly'—are not fully extended or supported with sophisticated reasoning. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and perhaps explore broader societal or psychological implications of this trend.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition'. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition between the social media influence and the personal experience at White Rock Pier feels slightly abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are repetitive, such as the final sentence which restates the introduction. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'social media', 'cost of living', and 'monopoly', but there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'adventurous movement' and 'shops will charge prices as per their own'. The repetition of 'social media' and 'places' suggests a limited range. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to tourism, consumer behavior, and social trends to demonstrate a broader lexical repertoire.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' place), subject-verb agreement, and sentence fragments. For example, 'because its social media era' should be 'because it is the social media era', and 'if the general public tries to find new places to visit will be pocket friendly' is grammatically incorrect. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence construction and article usage.
