Student answer (Band 6.0)

With the development of social media and usage of internet, people are aware of new places. They explore these new places and photograph them by standing infront of these places. They miss the chance to explore the place by just clicking pictures of themselves. According to me, this is a negative trend and there are so many reasons why this is happening. Today in this essay, I will discuss about this in details.

Firstly, this trend appears negative to me because natives are losing their lives by clicking pictures where ever they like. They are missing the chance to feel the destinations. Furthermore, people are doing things by copying others and looking at others social media accounts. For example, In Bihar 30% of youth lost their lives by taking pictures at destinations which were assigned as caution in 2015. Moreover, people are only engaged in taking pictures but in real lives most of them they don't know about the history of these places.

Secondly, there are places which holds a specific meaning and history but people are making them dirty by exploring them and littering them with garbage. Mostly people have pictures not memories because they just took images but missed to make memories on these places. Other thing is that people wants to post these pictures on social media that they have already visited these places and they make others jealous of this. As in old times, individuals explored places to learn something new but these days people just explore places just to take pictures and to post on their social media platforms.

In conclusion, I would say that instead of taking just pictures, people have to explore and feel the beauty of these beautiful destinations so that in future they hold something knowledgeable about these places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention social media and the desire to show off, the explanation could be deeper. The example regarding youth in Bihar is specific but slightly tangential to the core issue of 'not looking at the place' versus 'taking photos'. To improve, ensure that every point directly supports the main argument about the loss of authentic experience versus the superficiality of digital documentation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. For example, the phrase 'people are' is used frequently to start sentences, which limits the variety of your linking structures. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the idea of 'littering' and the main topic of 'taking photos' is a bit loose and could be better integrated into the overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'explore these new places', 'taking pictures', and 'make memories'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'natives are losing their lives' (where 'tourists' or 'visitors' would be more accurate) and 'assigned as caution' (which is non-standard). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism, digital culture, and human behavior.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people wants', 'places which holds') and awkward phrasing ('According to me', 'in details'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in article usage and prepositional phrases. The complexity of your sentences is limited; to improve, focus on reducing these recurring errors and incorporating a wider variety of complex structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, with greater accuracy.
