Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 179 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both parts of the prompt—explaining why people take photos and stating your opinion—the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the explanation regarding social media is brief, and the discussion on 'memories' lacks depth. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples or detailed reasoning to reach the required length and provide a more comprehensive response that fully explores the implications of the trend.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. You use basic transition words like 'First and foremost' and 'Second reason', but the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. For example, the transition in the second paragraph regarding 'recommending others' feels abrupt. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that links back to the main argument, creating a smoother logical flow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'well-known places' and 'take photographs'. There are also some errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'selfi' (selfie) and 'reccomend' (recommend). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to the topic of tourism and digital culture. Expanding your vocabulary will help you express your ideas with more nuance and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'According to myself' (should be 'In my opinion'), 'they visiting' (should be 'they are visiting'), and 'who never visited that place before, they have an Idea' (which is syntactically awkward). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and proofreading for common errors like missing auxiliary verbs and incorrect verb tenses.
