Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a negative opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and often lacks clarity. The word count is 248, which is slightly under the 250-word minimum, resulting in a penalty. The arguments, such as the dangers of visiting 'abedon' (abandoned) places or climbing mountains, are presented but lack depth and logical flow. The personal example provided is somewhat extreme and not fully integrated into a coherent argument about the broader social trend of photography-focused tourism. To improve, you should expand your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'Further more', 'In conclusion'), they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary cohesion to support a clear, flowing argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which occasionally impedes communication. There are several spelling errors, such as 'abedon' for abandoned, 'asthetic' for aesthetic, and 'mounteverest' for Mount Everest. The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is a reliance on repetitive structures. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary and improve your accuracy in word choice and spelling. Focus on learning collocations and using more precise terminology to describe the phenomena you are discussing, rather than relying on simple, often misused, descriptive words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the message. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of people are go'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'without get any information'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty, leading to confusion. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with misplaced commas and spaces. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of articles and prepositions. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for achieving a higher band score.
