Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undeniable that the more individuals visit the known places to capture selfies and photographs of themselves, without looking at the place. If asked, the negative feedback is more than the positive trend for this situation. Both of them will be discussed further.

On the one hand, more and more people are using social media recently and it will influence others to visit that places. Because of that people want to take selfie or photo to post on the social media or share with their friends. This means that, individuals run behind that area to take pictures without knowing any information of the place. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both parts of the prompt—explaining the causes and stating your opinion—the development is superficial. The essay ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence, leaving the argument incomplete. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the task are fully developed with sufficient supporting evidence. The current length and the unfinished conclusion prevent a higher score, as the ideas remain under-developed and the response is incomplete.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'Additionally,' which help to structure the response. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the logical flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'that places,' where the antecedent is not explicitly defined. To improve, focus on ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked more fluidly throughout the entire piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'take selfie or photo' and 'without looking at the place.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'run behind that area' and 'photography culture.' While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or varied vocabulary limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and academic collocations related to tourism, social media, and cultural heritage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'the more individuals visit the known places' (incorrect comparative structure), 'youngers are visit it' (incorrect verb form), and 'temples are banned to do photography' (awkward passive construction). Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization of 'The Taj-mahal,' also occur. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity of your writing.
