Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The explanation for why people take photos (social media influence) is relevant, but the argument regarding the negative impact is underdeveloped and relies on a questionable, extreme example (divorce rates). The position is clear, but the conclusion is slightly confusing due to grammatical errors, which obscures the final stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are supported with more logical, realistic reasoning rather than anecdotal or hyperbolic claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Lastly', and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'On of the key point is if there is no valid reason'. Additionally, some sentences lack logical flow, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed at times. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the conclusion, where the summary of the two viewpoints is repetitive and difficult to follow. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'worthless visiting place for sake of pics' and 'sake of showing off they takes pictures'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the repetition of basic terms like 'pictures' and 'places' limits the range. To improve, the student should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and synonyms to express ideas more naturally and precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('individuals easily gets influenced', 'they takes pictures'), article usage, and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. For example, 'This will leads to waste on money' contains multiple errors. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over complex structures. More attention to basic grammar rules and proofreading for subject-verb agreement is essential.
