Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear negative stance. However, the development of ideas is limited and often unclear. For instance, the argument regarding criminals in the second paragraph is somewhat disjointed, and the explanation of the 'detrimental effect on toddlers' is vague and lacks logical depth. While the position is consistent, the supporting points are not fully extended or clearly explained, leading to a somewhat superficial treatment of the topic. To improve, you should focus on providing more coherent examples and ensuring that each point directly supports your main argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To commence with', 'Additionally', 'To recapitulate'), they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is sometimes confusing, such as the use of 'they' and 'their' without clear antecedents, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the logical connection between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'multifarious individual', 'worsening of taking a had have enough prey', and 'highly obliged the rules'. These errors occasionally impede communication, making it difficult to grasp the intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you need to move beyond basic vocabulary and focus on using words and phrases that are appropriate for the context. Practising collocations and learning synonyms for common words will help you express your ideas with greater precision and naturalness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'photography has become a trend in everyone's individual life' and 'they can stolen their mobiles' demonstrate significant control issues. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, these are often faulty and contain errors that cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures before attempting more complex ones. Pay close attention to verb tenses and pluralisation, as these are consistent areas of weakness throughout your response.
