Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary era, a trend of capturing photographs have been increasing day by day. Many people believe, visitors may forget to see the actual attraction of the place because of taking photos. Here, I will explain the possible reasons for this trend and how it is negatively affecting their safety.

On a one hand, There are compelling reasons people take photographs. Memory is one of the common reasons. A picture not only captures a place but it also represent the exact moment with every person along it. Moreover, pictures do not get fade easily, therefore individuals can memorize weather, cheerful moments, colorful clothes within blink of an eye. Thus, photographs capture moments lived with closed ones.

Apart from this, people prefer to post their location on social media. These pictures play a pivotal role in sharing their memories with their friends and family. This gives them a sense of satisfaction, happiness, and excitement.

On the other hand, , tourists may forgot to see an attractive place and uniqueness after getting an satisfactory picture. These habits may affect their knowledge and limits their horizons at some extent. Furthermore, pictures also reveals some personal information and data of individuals. Many fraudsters and hackers may use this information to commit serious crime. consequently, innocent people may lose their privacy, and peace of mind. They may compromise their safety over photographs.

To conclude, although photographs allow to capture the exact moment and detailed information, posting them online may comes with many dangerous side effects. People may forget their actual purpose of visiting any place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the reasons for taking photos (memory and social media) are clear, the discussion on the negative impact is slightly disjointed. You focus on the loss of the 'actual attraction' but then shift to privacy and security concerns, which are less directly related to the prompt's focus on the experience of the place itself. To improve, ensure your supporting points remain tightly focused on the core question of how the experience of the location is affected.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to link ideas. However, there are some mechanical errors in the use of transitions, such as 'On a one hand' (should be 'On the one hand') and the double comma after 'On the other hand'. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition between the experience of the place and the issue of digital security. Improving the flow between sentences would help achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era', 'pivotal role', and 'uniqueness'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice or collocation errors, such as 'memorize weather' (instead of 'remember the weather'), 'get fade' (instead of 'fade'), and 'at some extent' (instead of 'to some extent'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations would enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'a trend... have been increasing' (should be 'has been'), 'pictures... represent' (should be 'represents'), and 'posting them online may comes' (should be 'may come'). There are also punctuation errors, such as the double comma after 'On the other hand'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and verb forms prevent the essay from reaching a higher band.
