Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays increasing number of people visit the famous places to click their pictures without looking at the place. The main reason behind this is social media influence. According to my perspective, it is a negative trend as it leads to health issues for many people.

The primary reason behind people travelling to well known places for taking photographs of themselves is the social media as the famous influencers posts their pictures while doing skydiving or at some well known places thus to follow them and get same pictures youngster visit those places without knowing the weather, cost or any other factor just to show off among their friends. Further sometimes people show off about their trips among relatives and family friends to make them jealous.

Moreover, I believe this is a negative trend as many people does not care about the cost, weather and health issues they might need to face while visiting those places. For instance, last year my friend just by watching the post of Alia Bhatt visit Sahara desert without know about the weather and failed to survive their due to intense heat and lack of supplies thus faces health issues. Further some trips costs a lot particularly to foreign places and they do not care about the budget while the same money can be used for some other purpose in future. Moreover, helping the poor with same money so that he gets food will be more valuable than posting on social media.

In summary, we can say that travelling to popular places without proper knowledge about the place is a negative trend thus before visiting these places people should take care of cost and weather as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of social media and the financial/health risks involved. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding the Sahara desert is quite specific but lacks a logical connection to the broader trend of 'taking photos,' as it focuses more on general travel risks. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that your examples directly support your arguments about the obsession with photography rather than just general travel mishaps.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'The primary reason,' 'Moreover,' and 'In summary.' However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. For example, starting multiple paragraphs with 'Moreover' limits the variety of your linking words. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the summary and the preceding arguments could be more tightly integrated to improve the overall progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'social media influence,' 'intense heat,' and 'budget.' However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'click their pictures' (better: 'take photographs of themselves') and 'show off about their trips' (better: 'boast about their travels'). There are also minor errors in collocation, such as 'failed to survive their' (should be 'there'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your collocations sound natural in a formal context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('many people does not care'), incorrect verb forms ('my friend... visit Sahara desert'), and missing articles ('the Sahara desert'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses and pluralization, and try to vary your sentence structures with more complex clauses.
