Student answer (Band 5.0)

I would like to share my thoughts about people taking photograph of themself because there is reason behind this.

The reason behind this is the well- known places are more advanced and you get all the facilities plus they have inbuilt guide were people are not required and help. Most import thing which I would like to highlight is big celebs, like SHAHRUK, VIRAT KHOLI, AMITAB BACHAN they often visit places like BURJ AL- KHALIFA, HAMRA TOWER AND MARINA MALL were they click selfies. Even I have seen young generation remove there pictures in odd places like huge mountain big mansions of superstars.

Removing selfies have become a trend. Every people want to post on social media and show others that they have visited new places and they to boast themself. According to me it is not a bad thing but when people are visiting to new place they should keep them to there self rather showing to others.

For me its a positive thing it is good to explore new place so we can get knowledge about it. However it good to follow steps of superstars but we can not be like them because they have there on life style and they can spend money. The negative thing is people are moving from old things which is not good because the outcome of it in not really good. Always be yourself what you and make the best what we can do rather copying others. We should always walk on our footsteps .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation regarding why people take photos without looking at the place is somewhat superficial, focusing on celebrity influence rather than the psychological or social drivers of modern tourism. The argument regarding whether it is a positive or negative trend is contradictory; the student labels it as 'not a bad thing' but then suggests people should keep photos to themselves, and later calls it a 'positive thing' while simultaneously highlighting negative aspects. The ideas lack depth and consistent logical development, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices, such as 'The reason behind this is' and 'However', they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between celebrity behavior and the general public's actions is not well-linked. Paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear flow, making the argument feel repetitive and somewhat fragmented. The transition between the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of the trend is abrupt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'remove there pictures' (likely meaning 'take' or 'upload'), 'boast themself' (instead of 'brag' or 'show off'), and 'walk on our footsteps' (which is an incorrect idiom). The repetition of basic words like 'things', 'places', and 'good' indicates a restricted range. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent misuse of collocations and idiomatic expressions significantly limit the score. More precise vocabulary related to tourism, social media, and personal behavior is needed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('Every people want'), pronoun usage ('them to there self'), and sentence structure. The use of complex sentences is attempted, but these are often faulty, leading to run-on sentences or awkward phrasing. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and hyphens. While the basic meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
