IELTS Writing Task 2 question
More and more people nowadays visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place.
Why do you think this is happening?
Is it a positive or a negative trend?

Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern generation, people tend to visit tourist spot and take several photos directly to the famous attraction of the place without looking at the surroundings. This is quite common nowadays because of the influence of social media. There are both positive and negative side of these traits.
The social media gives the tourist idea of the famous spot before visiting the place. Planning a destination to visit nowadays is quite convenient with the influence of social media. You can plan a head of time by making itinerary to make sure to visit those beautiful attraction the place has to offer. However, there are negative and positive side.
On one hand, the positive side, by searching on social media you can help you directly go to the main attraction of the place. This will help the tourist saves time and had a room to spare to visit other places. Additionally, you can save money because you no longer need a tourist guide to show you the different beautiful attraction of the place.
On the other hand, the negative side, directly going to the main attraction will make you miss the opportunity discover the things that you cannot find online. For instance, the culture of the people, by just taking photo you cannot experience these small details that matter in each places. Different places has different culture and this is how you can tell how diversity people is.
When going to places, it is better to plan a head and take photos of the beautiful attraction. However, take also the time to experience the traits of the people.
