Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, most individuals prefer exposure to popular places in order to capture photographs of themselves rather than enjoying the beauty of the destination. This phenomenon is happening due to the influence of social media; however, I believe that it is a destructive development because it leads to environmental damage.

One of the prominent reasons for visiting well-known locations is the intense pressure of social media, making people post new photos every day in order to gain enormous views, which help them to acquire global popularity and financial growth. For Instance, 'Facebook' offers extensive success to their consumers when they post novel images actively while showing different view. Therefore, digital world inspires inhabitants to upload latest content regularly for impressing their fans.

Despite this revolutionary, I believe somehow this is a negative influence to harm the natural atmosphere. While clicking pictures, chronical rays come from electronic devices, which intensively effect the environment because some places are more sensitive and need full of attention to save them for new generation in order to teach them about tradition and culture of ancient years. To exemplify, beauty of 'Taj Mahal' is not same as it built because of tourism and advanced technology, which effect it adversely. Thus, visitors should avoid to take photographs of remarkable places.

In conclusion, although people are taking photos of famous locations to increase their fan following, according to my opinion, this development has a adverse effect on the environment because of operating technology and tourists ought to cease using them in order to keep the beauty.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the link between social media and the desire for popularity is clear, the argument regarding environmental damage is less convincing and lacks logical depth. The claim that 'chronical rays' from electronic devices cause environmental harm is scientifically inaccurate and weakens the overall argument. To improve, ensure that your supporting points are grounded in logical, real-world reasoning rather than speculative or incorrect claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'In recent years', 'One of the prominent reasons', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally awkward, such as in the phrase 'Despite this revolutionary'. The transition between the social media argument and the environmental argument feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would help achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of unnatural collocation and word choice errors. For example, 'chronical rays' is not a standard term, and 'full of attention' is an incorrect collocation. Phrases like 'extensive success to their consumers' and 'operating technology' are also imprecise. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of precision occasionally hinders the clarity of your argument. Focus on learning common collocations and using words in their correct context to improve your lexical range and accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'beauty of Taj Mahal is not same as it built' (missing articles and incorrect verb tense) and 'avoid to take' (incorrect verb pattern). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns, article usage, and verb forms, and try to incorporate more complex structures with greater accuracy.
