Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been widely seen that individuals are getting attracted to well-known tourist spots. They visit the places to take pictures of themselves without looking at the place. This has brought a negative trend because they often ignore the history and have no knowledge about the place. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss why it has become a frequent issue and what could be the impacts.
To commence with, technological advancement have a greater impact on human life. Social media such as Instagram and Facebook has taken the authorities on people lives. Society follows their leaders on the media platform and they followed their footsteps. Whenever, some celebrity visit famous places, they post stories online. Their followers also arrange plans to visit the same spots. They tend to believe visiting the same destination would help them to gain likes and increase their engagement on social media. Moreover, this trend makes them recognisable in their social circle. For instance, recently many people from India visit Pyramid of Gaza to capture the scenic view of pyramids. They took plenty of pictures and posted online. Upon asking, they had no knowledge about the place, why and how it was built.
This has an adverse effects on several lives. First and foremost, visiting such an expensive places would likely disturb their financial budget. Due to the rising cost of living, spending money on costly destination in order to gain popularity could effect relationship between partners. Consequently, in a social gathering people often ask about the trip details and history about the place. This will bring embarrassment to them because people were so busy taking their photographs only rather than investing time to learn about the place and culture.
In conclusion, due to the internet people often visit places to take photos instead of appreciating the beauty of the places. To get recognised in this materialistic world has become common. Learning about the history could help people in their daily lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the influence of social media is well-explained, the discussion regarding the negative impacts is slightly repetitive and could be more deeply explored. For instance, the argument about financial budgets is a bit tangential to the core issue of 'not looking at the place.' The response would benefit from more specific examples or a more nuanced exploration of the cultural loss associated with this trend to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Whenever, some celebrity visit.' Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, 'This has an adverse effects on several lives' is a vague opening for a paragraph. Improving the variety and natural flow of linking words would enhance the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'technological advancement' and 'materialistic world.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'taken the authorities on people lives' (likely meant 'influence') and 'Pyramid of Gaza' (should be Giza). These errors do not impede communication but prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A wider range of precise, topic-specific vocabulary would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('technological advancement have,' 'celebrity visit,' 'people... visit') and article usage. There are also issues with pluralization and verb forms, such as 'this trend makes them recognisable' (correct) versus 'could effect relationship' (should be 'affect'). These errors are noticeable but rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, the student should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tense usage.
