Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people visit and click pictures of themselves at a well-known tourist place. Sometimes they tend to visit any random place without getting any information about it. This is because of the social media influence. Although people should enhance tourism, they should gain sufficient amount of knowledge before heading toward the destination.

On the one hand, tourism has become favorite one of the most enjoying activities. People tend to visit some best recommended destinations across the world, including hills, lakes and dessert. Tourism has a significant influence on the tourists, particularly when it comes to explore weather, food and language. For example, a tourist may face some difficulties while approaching a mountain, he may experience a best view of the nature. In this way, he can explore different type of foods and languages. Additionally, a tourist may help other tourists to explore more about a hidden gem by posting his pictures on the social media.

However, I personally believe that visiting any random place with half knowledge can be dangerous. Deciding a destination due to a social media trend can results in extremely stressful, particularly where no help can be called. For instance, visiting a desert where the temperature is extremely high, with a shortage of water and poor network coverage can lead to a massive problem or may cause a death due to unavailability of help. Therefore, a proper knowledge about the future destination, which can inform everything about the place can be life saving.

To conclude, despite the fact that tourism helps an individual to grow and explore the world, there should be a complete analysis about the place before deciding. Information such as weather, a network provider and safety gears can avoid serious injuries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend (social media influence) and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you clearly state that the trend is negative due to safety risks, the explanation of why people do this is limited to a brief mention of social media. The examples provided, such as the desert scenario, are relevant but could be more effectively linked to the core issue of 'taking photos without looking at the place.' To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly supports your central argument with more depth and nuance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'However,' and 'To conclude' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the transition in the second paragraph regarding mountain views. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the use of cohesive devices could be more sophisticated and varied to improve the overall flow of the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'destination,' 'unavailability,' and 'significant influence.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that limit the precision of your writing. For example, 'favorite one of the most enjoying activities' is awkward and unidiomatic. Similarly, 'getting any information' could be more naturally expressed as 'conducting research.' While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, you need to use less common lexical items with greater precision and better awareness of natural collocations to move into the higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'can results in' (should be 'can result in'), 'explore weather' (should be 'explore the weather'), and 'a proper knowledge' (knowledge is uncountable). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement throughout the text. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
