Student answer (Band 5.5)

My own viewpoint on this matter is, yes it is true that people nowadays visit well-known places to take pictures of themselves, without actually thinking about the places just because the social media.

Firstly, If we talked about people mentality why they are doing this kind of things. Secondly, we will figure out is that a positive affect on us or negative.

If we think about why people always choose that kind of place which are very popular or in a trend because they got inspired by Social media celebrities or influencers. Moreover, the most common reason I believe is that if they took pictures with popular restaurants, cafes or malls. They got more likes or popularity to their media platforms.

In conclusion, it is affecting is very negative way I believe that if people only visit places that are already quite well-known then we will never explore anything new. Furthermore, If we only follows trendy location that is also a partiality to those locations which are more beautiful and elegant. However, people who living in beautiful villages and around the sea coast are not having larger tourist attraction. On the other hand, If we will encourage people to visit new places or towns nearby that will be extremely helpful for villagers and small shops around that. In my own experience, I was faced a similar sitution last year where all my friends wants to visit popular cafe where every student of my college visit to eat some fancy cooked meal and took pictures with a famous cafe statue to feel that they are also rich and affort that. On the other side, I was forcing them to visit an old cafe where we have a lot of memories it is cheap in money but quite rich in taste.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. However, the development is somewhat superficial. The reasons provided—social media influence and the desire for popularity—are relevant but could be expanded with more depth. The discussion on the negative impact is present, but the argument regarding 'partiality' to certain locations is slightly unclear. The personal example provided is relevant to the topic, but the overall structure lacks a clear introduction and a formal conclusion, as the essay begins with a personal viewpoint and ends abruptly with a personal anecdote rather than a summary of the main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is not clearly defined, and the transition between the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of the trend is abrupt. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'In conclusion' is used to introduce a new argument rather than a summary). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is often disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and some word choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as 'people mentality', 'partiality to those locations', and 'affort that'. There are also issues with collocation, such as 'faced a similar sitution' and 'cheap in money'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or varied vocabulary limits the score. The student attempts to use some topic-specific language, but it is not always used correctly or naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'all my friends wants'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'If we talked about', 'If we will encourage'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'it is affecting is very negative way'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors is necessary.
