Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why people take photos instead of looking at places, and whether this is a positive or negative trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument that taking photos helps mitigate poverty is not logically connected to the topic of tourism behavior. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack depth and coherence. The essay covers the requirements, but the ideas are often under-developed or tangential, which limits the score to a 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical and sometimes confusing. The use of cohesive devices is repetitive (e.g., 'first and foremost', 'on the other hand', 'in conclusion'). There are issues with referencing; for example, the transition between the benefits of photography and the argument about poverty is abrupt and lacks a logical link. The punctuation is inconsistent, with many run-on sentences that make the progression of ideas difficult to follow at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'for capture photos' instead of 'to capture photos', 'side effective' instead of 'side effects', and 'allocate the cultures' which does not fit the context. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use less common items correctly. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the repeated errors in word formation prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('there are number of positive side'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on, lacking proper punctuation, which makes them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are frequently faulty, leading to confusion. The control of grammar is weak, and errors are present in almost every sentence, which significantly impacts the readability of the text.
