Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The explanation regarding social media is brief, and the example of Everest climbers is not entirely relevant to the prompt's focus on 'visiting well-known places to take photographs without looking at the place.' The argument regarding Paris is also slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that your examples directly support the specific phenomenon of 'photo-tourism' rather than general travel planning issues.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the phrase 'To seek the adventure' at the start of the second paragraph is a sentence fragment. Additionally, the transition between ideas within paragraphs is occasionally abrupt. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of referencing (e.g., 'most of there') mean that the flow of the text is not always smooth.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'proper research make journey lifelong' (should be 'makes a journey memorable') and 'emotionally breakdown' (should be 'emotional breakdown'). You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'voyagers' and 'expedition,' but these are sometimes used in contexts that feel slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('this travelling habit might puts'), article usage ('on street'), and sentence fragments ('To seek the adventure...'). There are also errors in pluralisation and tense consistency. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a finite verb.
