Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, an increasing number of people like to click their own photographs rather than focusing at the place. In this essay, I will be discussing the reasons and why I think it is a positive thing to do.
First reason could be that these days there is an easy access to mobile phones that makes it easy to click a picture because mobile phones has become inexpensive to buy due to intense competition. Second reasonable reason could be the emergence of Social Media that makes everyone posts their pictures to show to their friends and family about their life that makes them to neglect the actual scenic beauty of the place.
In my opinion, it is positive trend, The First reason could be that it helps people collect their memories into photographs. For example if they would have the picture of that place, it would be easier for them to recall all the memories related to that place. Second reason of it being a positive trend could be that it will help in promoting the tourism of that destination, For example,If people will upload their photos on the social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok that will make people more aware about that place and that would more likely make them visit that place in the future.
In conclusion, In this essay, I explained how social media and mobile phones makes people ignore the actual beauty of that place and it impacts positively by preserving memories and also making the place more popular and increase awareness.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the writer's opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the reasons (accessibility of phones and social media) are relevant, they are explained in a rather simplistic manner. The argument regarding the 'positive' nature of the trend is also quite brief. To reach a higher band, the response would benefit from more depth in the analysis, perhaps by discussing the psychological aspect of 'living in the moment' versus 'capturing the moment' to provide a more balanced and insightful perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the reasons to the writer's opinion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'First reason', 'Second reason', 'In conclusion'). Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, such as the comma splice in 'In my opinion, it is positive trend, The First reason...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring better sentence-level cohesion would strengthen this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'scenic beauty' and 'promoting the tourism'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'click their own photographs' (usually 'take photos' or 'selfies') and 'easy access to mobile phones that makes it easy to click a picture'. Expanding the range of synonyms and collocations would help move the score higher.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('mobile phones has become', 'social media makes everyone posts'), article usage ('the social media'), and punctuation errors, particularly comma splices. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement and refining the use of complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
