Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is becoming a trend among the individuals to click pictures at popular places without any consideration. This essay will discuss the reasons of this trend and I firmly believe that it is a negative trend as it brings various problems for that specific demograpy.

One of the most significant reasons for this trend is social media influence. Nowadays, youth is more indulged with social sites like an instagram, whatsapp where they share their stories or photos in order to seek attention.Undoubtedly, they are informing or promoting themselves along with the place, but brings in more problems. In addition to this, people believe that sharing pictures or videos from famous places would prove their experiences. As a result, they believe in showing off instead of gaining personal experiences and creating memories with their families or friendsz

It is a negative trend because the well- known places would be full of crowd and would not be well- maintained. When majority of people visit one place, it results in unnecessary crowd and non- maintenance of the place. To take an example,Taj mahal in India is one of the seven wonders of the world which is inviting thousands of visitors per day, resulting in loosing its shining of the stones and huge waiting queues outside. Eventually, authorities are not able to get enough time to keep the place clean and well maintained that leads to lost pf beauty of the building.

To sum up, it is an undeniable fact that social media influence and showing off results in lowering personal experiences and loss of long lasting memories. I believe its negative trend as it brings various problems like crowd and lack of management of the places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the mention of social media and the desire to 'show off' is relevant, the explanation could be more nuanced. The example of the Taj Mahal is a good attempt to support the argument regarding negative impacts, but the analysis of why people prioritize photos over the experience itself remains somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the psychological or societal drivers behind this behavior.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition to this', 'As a result', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For instance, the phrase 'that specific demograpy' in the introduction is vague, and the connection between the social media paragraph and the negative impact paragraph could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'social media influence', 'undeniable fact', and 'well-maintained'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'click pictures' (take photos), 'indulged with' (engaged with), and 'loosing its shining' (losing its shine). Additionally, there are some spelling errors like 'demograpy' and 'friendsz'. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and ensure that your vocabulary is used in the correct context to convey your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the well-known places', 'the Taj Mahal'), pluralization, and verb forms ('it results in unnecessary crowd'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'it is becoming a trend among the individuals to click pictures'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing your control over articles and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
