Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument that it 'saves time' is not fully explained in the context of taking photos without looking at the place. The structure is also confusing, as the essay begins with a paragraph that seems to be a fragment of a conclusion, followed by an introduction, and then the body paragraphs. This lack of logical flow impacts the overall task response, as the position is not consistently clear throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay suffers from significant organizational issues. The text begins with a paragraph that appears to be part of a conclusion, followed by an introduction, and then body paragraphs, which disrupts the logical progression of ideas. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'In conclusion', their usage is often mechanical or incorrectly placed. Paragraphing is not used effectively to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion, making the essay difficult to follow. Referencing is also inconsistent, which hinders the reader's ability to track the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward word choices and non-standard collocations, such as 'memorized momement' (memorable moment), 'loveones' (loved ones), and 'get-known' (become familiar). While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'distinct features' and 'advertisements', the overall control is weak. Spelling errors are frequent, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently marred by grammatical errors. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of the people are like to visit'), article usage, and tense consistency. Punctuation is also problematic, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. These errors are frequent and sometimes make it difficult to grasp the intended meaning of the sentences, placing the performance firmly in the 5.0 band range.
