Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has become increasingly common for people to visit popular locations to take pictures and videos of themselves without finding out what the place looks like. This can be due to a couple of reasons such as consumers effect and I believe it is a positive trend for the business owners.
Consumerism has taken over today's society and social media has played a huge role in this. In the past, people would ask a lot of questions and make research before the go anywhere for a photoshoot to know if the place fits the aesthetics they planned out. The present generation are not that detail oriented. They go to popular places that would cause them to trend on social media and some times , if not most they get disappointed by the way they are treated by the staff members or the ambience. For instance, a Tiktok celebrity who was paid for an advertisement will say anything to appear relevant and this will cause fandoms to crowd the location out of trust even though they are not familiar.
I believe the business owners are at the greater advantage because their businesses will make profit due to the rush it will experience. This serves as free advertisement since people want to take pictures because they saw a celebrity do it, more and more people will see the social media post and come to experience it.
Ultimately, I think it is a positive trend that individuals go to famous places to take photos without proper research. Consumerism is one of many reasons for this.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'consumerism' and 'social media', the explanation of why people visit places without looking at them remains superficial. The argument that it is a positive trend is supported by the perspective of business owners, but the essay lacks a balanced view or a deeper exploration of the social implications. To improve, ensure that your supporting points are fully extended with more specific examples or logical reasoning to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For instance' and 'Ultimately', to link your thoughts. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, some transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of the argument. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could benefit from more varied linking words to connect the supporting arguments more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'aesthetics', 'ambience', and 'consumerism'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'consumers effect' and 'make research' (should be 'conduct research'). Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, which limits the precision of your expression. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary is used in the correct context to convey your ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'The present generation are' (subject-verb agreement), 'some times , if not most' (punctuation and phrasing), and 'crowd the location out of trust' (unclear collocation). These errors do not impede communication, but they do occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for minor grammatical slips will help improve your score in this criterion.
