Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this modernized era, substantial number of the proponents of society discover new sites more often as it now become a widely prevalent trend. Concerning with this, nowadays bunch of people exploring eminent places to capture photographs of themselves with an inadequate information about the place. From my perspective, I reckon that this is a negative development with some rationale stating why this trend is so usual and the justifications are streamlined in the subsequent paragraphs.

To commence with, the paramount rationale that why this is happening nowadays is due to the influence of the social media. To explicate, in this ongoing neoteric era individuals are not only inclined towards the usage of social media applications but also posting the new trends on the same which grabs the attention of people. Simultaneously, people often travels to the prominent places after watching the exquisite locations of that place in a thought of getting impeccable photographs of themselves.

On contrary, I prudently emphasizes that this is a negative trend because people are unaware about an incoming threats. To explain it in detail, mostly people try to edit the image of well-known places in order to get the views from the people, but they will hide the information and the threats of the place. Followed by this, individuals visit the place to take the photographs without looking at the place. To exemplify, I saw a headline in a live news channel that one young juvenile was died while taking a risky photographs from the cliff, later the investigators discovered that this was happened because of the unknown facts about that cliff. Therefore, a lack of information can make a great impact on people lives.

Conclusively, though having the reasons like social media trend can make the place best for the photographs however I negatively assert that without looking the place location can become a danger for the people as per the aforementioned reasons.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the influence of social media is a relevant point, the explanation of why people ignore the actual location is slightly repetitive. The example provided regarding the cliff is relevant, but the argument could be further extended by discussing the psychological aspect of 'performative' travel versus genuine experience. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis remains at a moderate level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'On contrary', and 'Conclusively', though some are used mechanically or slightly incorrectly (e.g., 'On contrary' should be 'On the contrary'). Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to awkward phrasing. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from the cause (social media) to the effect (safety risks), which helps the reader follow the argument despite some minor lapses in flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student attempts to use a wider range of vocabulary, such as 'neoteric', 'proponents', and 'impeccable'. However, there are several instances of unnatural collocation and word choice errors, such as 'substantial number of the proponents of society' (which is confusing) and 'inadequate information about the place' (where 'lack of' would be more natural). The phrase 'one young juvenile was died' is grammatically and lexically incorrect. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message, the lack of precision and occasional misuse of sophisticated terms limits the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'as it now become' (should be 'has become'), 'bunch of people exploring' (missing verb 'are'), and 'I prudently emphasizes' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence construction is often clunky. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to basic subject-verb agreement and article usage is required.
