Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern era, most of the people are passionate about taking pictures of themselves whenever they visits any popular places without having a look on that place. This is because of two main reasons and it is totally a negative trend which i will explicate in the following paragraphs.

One of the major reason is that individuals are influenced by social media. They want to share their new pictures on internet everyday to show their high standards, get more likes and comments. As nowadays social media has become a platform for earning money by sharing their daily life things on it so they just prefer to a lot of photographs.

Another reason is the rise in smartphones. To explain it, mobile phones provides a lot of advanced features which will make the person to click photos by visiting the well-known places. For example, Iphone 17 has the best camera quality than all other phones as it captures the image of place as it is in real life. So, due to these features they prefer to click pictures. Moreover, some people wants to create memories by going to popular places and clicking photos to preserve them for future.

This trend is negative, because people do not focuses on the things made by nature, the natural beauty. Instead of just clicking pictures, they can sit in the nature peacefully, play some games and explore the area. As some of the well-known places contains historical information, so they need to focus on that for increasing their knowledge.

In conclusion, Although the people gets inspired by social media to visit places for taking pictures, however they need to pay attention to the history and natural view of that place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding smartphones focuses heavily on camera quality rather than the psychological aspect of why people prioritize photos over experiences. The argument that it is a negative trend is relevant but could be more deeply explored by discussing the loss of cultural appreciation or the superficiality of such travel. Overall, the ideas are relevant but lack the depth required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'One of the major reason', 'Another reason', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'Although the people gets inspired... however they need to...'. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved to create a more natural progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different parts of the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'advanced features' and 'preserve them for future'. However, the range is limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice or minor errors, such as 'without having a look on that place' (instead of 'at') and 'daily life things'. The repetition of basic verbs like 'click' and 'visit' also limits the score. To improve, the student should aim for more precise collocations and a wider variety of descriptive language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('most of the people are', 'mobile phones provides', 'some people wants', 'the people gets'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward phrasing ('without looking at the place' vs 'without looking at the location'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent a higher score. A greater focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
