Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is true that many of individuals prefer to visit eminent places in order to take pictures of themselves these days. This essay intends to discuss the reasons behind this phenomenon such as status maintenance along with its negative and positive impacts.

To commence with, there are plenty of reasons to this trend. The major reason is that people want to maintain their status. To explain, nowadays, people are well educated and they are doing white color jobs in the domain of education, science, engineering and many more. As a result, they want to show their status in the society by posting photos of different famous places online. Another reason could be exploring distinct locations to enhance knowledge. To elaborate, technology plays a vital role in everyone's life, when people see the famous places online, they become enthusiastic to explore the beauty of that places. This means they want to get the first hand experience by visiting such places and upload the photographs on the social media platforms.

However, this trend can be both positive or negative. The main positive outcome of this trend is enhancing the knowledge about different well-known places. To illustrate, people can not only show their wealth to the society but also get deeper information about the places. For example, when people visit the Taj Mahal in Agra, they not only capture pictures but also enrich their knowledge about the history of that place by communicating the local citizens and guiders. While, the negative might be hurting the sentiments of others. This means that when people visit any place without getting information, they might do not follow the rules and regulations.

In conclusion, I reiterate that there are many reasons behind it but the positives such as getting knowledge is worth, while the negatives cannot be neglected.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the reasons (status and curiosity) are clear, the discussion on whether the trend is positive or negative is slightly contradictory. You argue that it is positive because people learn about history, but then mention that they might not follow rules, without fully exploring the negative implications of 'not looking at the place' as requested by the prompt. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended and that your position remains consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'To elaborate', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'While, the negative might be hurting the sentiments of others.' The paragraphing is appropriate, but the flow between the positive and negative aspects could be smoother to improve the overall progression of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'phenomenon', 'enthusiastic', and 'enrich their knowledge'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'white color jobs' (should be 'white-collar jobs') and 'communicating the local citizens' (should be 'communicating with'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, these occasional inaccuracies prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on precise collocations will help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'many of individuals' (should be 'many individuals'), 'beauty of that places' (should be 'beauty of those places'), and 'they might do not follow' (should be 'they might not follow'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not significantly impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct usage of plural nouns and auxiliary verbs.
