Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays numerous people are visiting places which are popular on social media without even searching much about that place. From my perspective its a positive trend with many supporting reasons.

This is happening because of technology as people of every age group uses social media. Social media provides you all kind of information of the world. It exaggerates every bit of information which seems to be facinating and people end up planning to visit new spots to explore.

Furthermore, technology has advanced over time enabling you to book tickets, hotels, taxis through websites over your mobile phones. With a touch you can buy anything, convert currencies so these amenities had made life much easier.

In addition, affordable and accessible transportation facilities have allowed youngsters to travel all around the world to explore new culture and traditions.

Today, youth feel more comfortable and safe to travel solo due to the safety controls of the countries. Safety is not a concern anymore which helped people to visit various unknown places to capture memories by taking photographs. This cultural of taking pictures of every tourist place has become trendy nowadays. Which motivates others to visit such captivating places. FOR example a well known social media application called instagram even pays you on posting your photographs, videos. The more people follow and like your pictures the more you get famous and get paid a good amount which also motivates people to explore new places.

In the end I will conclude that its a good idea to explore new culture, tradition and places whenever you get an opportunity as it will broaden your horizons.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear position. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the link between social media and travel is clear, the argument that this is a 'positive' trend is weakly supported. The essay focuses heavily on the mechanics of travel (booking tickets, safety) rather than directly addressing the core issue of people visiting places 'without looking at the place' or taking photos instead of experiencing the location. To reach a higher band, the ideas need to be more focused on the specific phenomenon described in the prompt rather than general travel trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'For example', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The paragraphing is functional, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to better link the reasons provided to the specific trend of photography-focused tourism. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly disjointed, which occasionally interrupts the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'exaggerates', 'amenities', and 'captivating'. However, there are also some inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'This cultural of taking pictures' (should be 'culture') and 'get famous' (should be 'gain fame' or 'become famous'). The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people... uses social media'), missing articles, and punctuation errors (e.g., starting a sentence with 'Which'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and the punctuation, particularly regarding sentence fragments, needs more attention to ensure accuracy.
