Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, a large number of people started visiting tourist attractions for the sake of taking selfies or photos without even looking at the place. In my opinion, a vital influence of social media, hypes this negative trend in the society.

Because it is a human psychology that humans are unknowingly attention seekers. As social media platforms are crowded with tons of photos, videos and reels which creates a social stigma that people should be a frequent explorer of new places, otherwise they will be zoom out of these platforms. Now a sense of insecurity push masses to follow what they think is in a trend to make themselves part of the society, either it is good or bad for them. All these things make this trend viral but not in favour of making a strong nation.

However, in one aspect, it seems a healthy positive trend but the core of this trend is based on week fundamentals such as pretending rich, socially aware and explorer. I believe this is a negative trend for the society, it completely rely on digital social media. Therefore it could be a threat in near future, if technology like AI is going to replace actual places with their self generated images. This images might be more attractive and completely realistic, and then those people who are going to visit places just for pictures will suddenly shifted to AI and eventually tourist economy will witness a sudden downfall. No nation wish to crash its economy in such a way.

Recently, in my own facebook page I noticed that my friends started switching to AI for their image generation. Now they upload their pictures more frequently and feel joy of sharing and living pretend luxury life. I witnessed the shift in youth's mindset and realize that they found more easy solution to do the same.

In summary, visiting well-known places for only photographs is not a positive trend to go with. I urge youth of my country to visit their monuments, tourist attractions or world's heritages to understand and witness the uniqueness of it, rather than just clicking pictures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend (social media pressure and attention-seeking) and the evaluation of the trend (negative). The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding AI replacing tourist sites is a creative point, but it feels slightly tangential to the core issue of people ignoring their surroundings while taking photos. While the ideas are relevant, they could be more deeply explored with more concrete examples beyond the personal mention of Facebook friends. Overall, the response covers all requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the causes to the consequences and finally a summary. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'Therefore', and 'In summary', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'in one aspect, it seems a healthy positive trend'. Referencing is generally clear, although the connection between the paragraph on AI and the main topic could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'tourist attractions', 'social stigma', and 'digital social media'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'hypes this negative trend', 'zoom out of these platforms', 'week fundamentals' (instead of 'weak'), and 'suddenly shifted' (instead of 'suddenly shift'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the score as they show a lack of precision in more complex expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('a large number of people started', 'it completely rely'), incorrect verb forms ('No nation wish to crash'), and awkward phrasing ('if technology like AI is going to replace... This images might be'). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Punctuation is generally functional, but the control over complex sentence structures is inconsistent.
