Student answer (Band 6.0)

The global village has became so blind that they visit new places without looking at the place and come home with plethora of pictures of their own. In my perspective it is a negative development, which is mainly happening due to the trend going on nowadays.

After the advancement in technology, now everyone has a access to the smart-phones which they use to take pictures while being on a tour, however they skip the main thing while clicking thousands of picture which is taking a moment to explore the place they are visiting. This is happening majorly due to the trend going on internet and social media. For instance, now people are more interested to post everything on their social media with nice pictures rather than enjoying the quality time and the moment as most of the people are seeing this happening across all social media platforms.

Moreover, some people follow their favorite travel vloggers and travel influencers, who takes lots of photos and videos of the well-known places and post on their social media handles. which is going to influence their followers to do the same thing to do following; visit, click and post without seeing at the beauty of the place. Additionally, there are some other folks who wants to copy and recreate the same photos which their known-ones clicked it and posted it on their Instagram and Facebook.

Ultimately, people are ignoring to live in present moment by not enjoying the views of the place and clicking numerous photographs to post it on their social media just to impress their followers. In my perspective it is a negative trend which is largely happening as people are busy in copying each other and copying trend of internet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the explanation of social media influence in the second paragraph is very similar to the points made in the third paragraph regarding influencers. To achieve a higher band, the ideas could be more distinct and supported with more varied examples. The conclusion effectively summarizes the stance, but the overall depth of analysis remains at a moderate level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Ultimately', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'which is going to influence their followers to do the same thing to do following'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between the influencers and the followers' actions could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the flow could be improved with more sophisticated linking.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'plethora of pictures' and 'global village', though the latter is used slightly inaccurately in this context. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'seeing at the beauty' instead of 'looking at' or 'appreciating', and 'known-ones' which is not standard English. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include 'The global village has became' (should be 'become'), 'everyone has a access' (should be 'access'), and 'who takes lots of photos' (should be 'take' to agree with the plural antecedent 'vloggers'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentence fragments and unnecessary full stops, such as 'social media handles. which is going to...'. These errors indicate a lack of control over more complex grammatical structures.
