Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 174 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the prompt by discussing why people take photos and offering an opinion on the trend, the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the example regarding the hair in the food is irrelevant to the core topic of taking photos at tourist sites. To improve, you must expand on your points with relevant examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is weak. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the connection between the topic of tourist photography and the anecdote about a restaurant is tenuous. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with' and 'Furthermore', but they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately given the content. The conclusion is also very brief and does not effectively summarize the main points or provide a final thought on the trend.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple phrases like 'necessary things' and 'most liked'. There are some attempts at more academic vocabulary, but they are often used incorrectly or in a limited way. For example, 'proofs' is used where 'evidence' would be more appropriate. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including collocations and less common lexical items, while ensuring they are used in the correct context to convey your meaning precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Photographs has become'), incorrect preposition usage ('at some situations'), and awkward phrasing ('without using enough cameras'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions before attempting more complex structures.
