Student answer (Band 6.0)

Artificial Intelligence is paving it's way more promptly into our lives that it seems impossible to survive in this period. Taking photographs is a prominent trend that all age groups follow and for this they even prefer to commute well-known, rather than to explore these places. Believing this is a negative trend I will explain my perspective with examples.

Beginning with my position on clicking pictures at famous spots being a negative scenario, the main point is people opt for famous tourist places as well as other featuring spots to gain a spotlight among their followers or friends on social media. Moreover, people tend to follow other people on social sites which further makes them to showcase a better version and rich lifestyle to others in order to keep alive in the social circle. To be more precise, this day and age people are far more concerned about their perfect image in front of outsiders and friends that to keep up their appearances they visit famous places even though they do not have any understanding of that spot.

Another justification, people in this modern setting do not have enough time on hands to spend with family or friends as well to appreciate the nature and famous attractions. People believe clicking beautiful pictures is all what they need to convey others about their happiness and achievements. What they exclude is creating memorable memories and learning the story behind such places, they forget to connect to nature and history. For instance, most of the tourists visit just to have a perfect location for their social media posts that provides them likes and comments to keep floating in the global world.

In conclusion, although some might consider a normal place for a picture, but I am of the view that the dark side of this trend is effecting society mentally, emotionally and draining their finances as well just to keep up the appearances in the social world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why this is happening and whether it is a positive or negative trend. The position is clear throughout. However, the introduction starts with an irrelevant sentence about Artificial Intelligence, which does not relate to the topic of photography and tourism. While the ideas are relevant, the development is somewhat repetitive, focusing heavily on social media validation. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of the psychological or cultural implications of this trend, rather than repeating the idea of 'likes' and 'social circles' multiple times.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Beginning with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help the flow. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Another justification, people in this modern setting...'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the connection between sentences could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall progression of ideas could be more sophisticated to move beyond a list-like structure of arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prominent trend', 'showcase', and 'convey'. However, there are several instances of awkward collocation and word choice, such as 'commute well-known' (instead of 'visit well-known places') and 'keep floating in the global world'. The phrase 'Artificial Intelligence is paving it's way' contains a grammatical error ('it's' vs 'its') and is also off-topic. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'famous places' and 'social media'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'paving it's way' (possessive error), 'makes them to showcase' (incorrect verb pattern), and 'effecting society' (should be 'affecting'). Additionally, some sentences are clunky, such as 'although some might consider a normal place for a picture, but I am of the view...'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage.
