Student answer (Band 6.0)

A trend recently has been noticed that most of the individuals who check out the popular places prefer to take their pictures at that sites, instead of exploring the area. In my opinion, this is due to increasing influence of the social media in our lifes. In my perspective, this tendency has severe negative impacts on someone's life, such as unable to know the history or related events to that specific area, taking no pleasure from natural landscapes, and over-sharing perosnal life events.

First of all, this drift has significant drawback that they would be unable to know the historical events related to that community. One reason to go to a famous ancient place is to recognize the local community, their culture, and their way of living. For example, Chillas community has their own distinct cultural background and religious festivals. Therefore, one can deprived himself by not exploring the local area.

Secondly, by taking their photograph, one can deprive himself the pleasure of the natural beauty. Moreover, many people in pakistan visit the northern areas, beacause of the heavenly, eye-catching countryside.

However, individuals now take less interest in hicking and examining the surroundings.

Last but not the least, this perspective under the influence of modern globalisation has led to over-sharing every event of their life. This is becasue of the new soical apps, like Tiktok which have easy accessibilty and usage. In addition to this, everyone want to have more viewer to get called as a Tiktoker Star.

In conclusion, this increasing trend of not exploring the place, but taking own picture has a negative impact. It can cause serious personal relationship problems in long run. This current has more negative influence on teenagers, because they do not mature enough to know the outcomes. Responsible use of social media can prevent this.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the negative impact on cultural appreciation is mentioned, the explanation remains a bit superficial. The example of the 'Chillas community' is relevant but lacks sufficient detail to fully support the argument. Similarly, the point about social media is clear, but the connection between 'over-sharing' and the core issue of not looking at the place could be more explicitly linked to the prompt's focus on the act of photography itself. Overall, the ideas are relevant but could be extended further to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is a bit disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of natural beauty and the mention of hiking feels abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing could be more sophisticated to better manage the progression of ideas. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices lacks the flexibility required for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'globalisation' and 'accessibility', but there are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'lifes', 'perosnal', 'beacause', 'soical', 'becasue') and collocation issues (e.g., 'deprived himself by not exploring' instead of 'deprives himself of the opportunity'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and more precise word choices to convey their arguments with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles, prepositions, and verb forms (e.g., 'at that sites', 'influence of the social media', 'everyone want to have more viewer'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'This current has more negative influence'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the frequency of grammatical slips is noticeable throughout the text. The student needs to focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve the accuracy of their writing.
